Good home cooked food, delivered to our door. I’m sure we all agree that nothing could ever beat our mum’s food, (I still remember the last meal Mum prepared for me). However, The Dinner Ladies sure come close! Thanks to The Dinner Ladies, I don’t have to plan or prepare dinners anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I do find pleasure in preparing meals every now and then, when I can have a whole day to plan, prepare and cook without any children about. Add children to the mix and cooking becomes very much a chore for me.

Enter The Dinner Ladies, Sophie and Katherine. The concept is simply genius! Sophie and Katherine are wonderful cooks who cook wonderful meals. They use fresh ingredients, no preservatives/MSG and other things named with numbers and letters. They even grind their own spices from whole – (wow!). We’ve used their services for over two months now and really appreciate the variety of their menu. Eg this week our family’s having: porchetta sausages; puy lentil salad; duck confit with blood orange sauce; classic lasagne; thai chicken curry with ginger and thai basil and ragu alla bolognese – (can’t wait for delivery day Wednesday!). So far, my favourites are their: Kerala beef curry; lamb and vegetable pie, macaroni and cheese, apple and rhubarb crumble and nonya chicken curry – (so close to tasting like my mum’s).

Here’s how it works:

  • They email out their weekly menu on Thursday.
  • You put in your order by Sunday.
  • They deliver the food to you in a cold box on Wed or Thurs (depending on where you live). The meals are packaged very well and store well in the fridge for up to a week and they can also be frozen.
  • All you have to do is: “cook” the meal they’ve prepared – either bake it or gently reheat it on the stove; cook up rice/pasta/potato to go with the meal; prepare a simple vegetable dish… and wunderbar! Dinner is served.
