Hi Chelsea,

So sorry and bummed it didn't work out for you. Looking back at my old photos, the recipe does create an incredibly wet dough. We worked around this by using a VERY well floured surface for rolling it flat, creating balls of dough, etc before stamping it with fossil prints.

By the time we finished baking it in the oven, it worked out well for us.

I hope this helps.

Hi Pauline,

I'm just letting you know that I tried this recipe. It did not quite come out at hoped. It was way too watery and I ended up having to add more flour, so it lost it's cool look like yours. I didn't even add all the water as suggested in your recipe. I did 1 cup of flour, 6 tablespoons of salt, 1/2 cup of instant coffee and a little over 1/3 cup of water. I couldn't stop it from sticking to my fingers and ended up coating my figures in flour because they kept sticking in the mix and I'd have to redo it. Did I have the measurements off somewhere?

Thanks again for sharing such a great tutorial. I'm so bummed my attempt didn't work out. :(

I really love this little thing and am looking forward to using it in my classroom. However, any idea if you can just let the fossil air dry or does it have to be baked? I don't want to have the children put in the work and I let it out to just dry and it never hardens or doesn't have the same results.

Thanks again!
